Why would a hospital/medical center be busy on a seasonal basis?

A valet at a hospital/medical center told me they get busier in the Summer than in the Winter.

Isn't a hospital a year-round operation?

Don't people get injured in about the same volume year round?

do they hold summer-time special events or something? Why would a hospital/medical center be busy on a seasonal basis?
During the holidays way more accidents happen. People are usually off work, kids are out of school, people drink and drive more often. Christmas is especially bad for drinking and driving. With the nice weather kids are out riding bikes, rollerblading and skateboarding. Lots of accidents. Its mostly because with no school or work, there's more time in a day to get hurt.
