So what you are saying is you can last longer then him ?
Sorry, just had to get that in there, I couldn't resist.
Mineola, NY ............................
You might want to look at the area of Westbury. The Carle Place LIRR station is located there and it's just 5.2 miles from Nassau University Medical Center.

Yuck
You have three problems here
1) Is that the hospital happens to be sitting on one of the busiest roads on LI: Hempstead Turnpike and the problem is further compounded by the fact that if you pick the wrong location you will have to traverse other busy roads and shopping areas to get there
2) The LIRR did not see fit to place a line down Hempstead Turnpike after Levittown was built
3) LI rental housing stock has always been bad [and over priced ] bc the powers that be decided long ago that they didn't want "citified "suburbs
The only saving grace on that might be that this foreclosure crisis may open up some housing for rental that other wise would have been unavailable
Just so you know :
Your husband can easily do more than 15 minutes and the time of day that he will be coming and going to work do not match rush hour
In the NYC area mapquest type numbers are basically useless so don't use them as your baseline
Your basic strategy for getting to work needs a bit of an adjustment
Try locating yourself near a bus line that takes you to the LIRR
Here's a map of the LIRR
Your possible stations are: Merrick Bellmore Wantagh Seaford and Carl Place , Westbury %26amp; Hicksville

If you draw a box that connects Merrick to CarlePlace and Hicksville to Seaford then you should be living within that box
