How could Stanford Medical Center not know that Pete Wilson had a heart with arteries that were plugged?

If he had no prior medical conditions, they probably only did an EKG and as it showed he was fine (at that moment), proceeded with the surgery.

EVERY surgery carries with it the risk of something happening on the table that is unrelated with the actual part of the body being worked on. The stress of being put under and cut open is enough to trigger these things, so people should be aware of all risks before agreeing to any procedure. How could Stanford Medical Center not know that Pete Wilson had a heart with arteries that were plugged?
They inject a dye and xray it. That shows artery restrictions and blockage. It will also indicate force of blood in the heart chambers. How could Stanford Medical Center not know that Pete Wilson had a heart with arteries that were plugged?
