What's up still with Walter Reed Medical Center?

I have a friend and their family still having to deal with it there due to a new serious war injury. They are telling me horror stories about short staffing, incredible bureaurocracy for family members to speak to anyone knowledgeable, nurses that are jerks, etc!! I thought all this mess was recently cleaned up, leadership there fired, etc? What's up still with Walter Reed Medical Center?
I've been treated at Walter Reed though it was years ago. Let me give you a bit of advice. Kindness and politeness and respect go a very long way. The staff is overworked and stretched (there is a nursing shortage EVERYWHERE - particularly in the military hospitals). A few kind words to the nurses will generate far kinder attitudes. Also, Walter Reed has a chain of command. Talking to someone "knowledgeable" doesn't mean you get to talk to the top man on the totem pole - you have to follow the COC. Blowing off the doctor treating their kid because they don't thin he/she knows what he/she is doing is very disrespectful. There are also restrictions on not just health information but military information. I realize they're probably tense about their family member who is injured and tenseness can come across as rudeness. And to someone who is already stretched thin? That rude family member will take second priority to someone who has not been rude or short. Patience. Kindness. Respect.

Oh and members of congress and the president generally get treated at Bethesda - not Walter Reed. But at both places I've had excellent care.
A lot of it is 'in the eye of the beholder.'

Civilians tend to forget that Walther Reed is a _military_ hospital so procedures are going to be more formal than a civilian hospital.

Remember that just about everybody treated at Walther Reed is favorably impressed by the place.

BTW - Walther Reed is where members of Congress go for their medical treatment. What's up still with Walter Reed Medical Center?
If they are calling the nurses jerks, what do they expect????

Treat the staff with a little courtesy and gratitude, it works wonders.

Sure, they're stressed, but there's no need for that to be a crutch.
