I have heard that most jobs go to the locals but what are my chances? For all of those who live in Maui, how hard is it to get a job at Maui Memorial Medical Center as an RN?
I not too sure that true, that most jobs go to locals, but hey, you mite be rite, ok? Here the thing, if you got RN license for Hawaii, then you got great opporunity here, ok? Now, maybe not at MM, but for sure you find good pay job on Maui, because here the problem, lotta local people dont wanna take classes needed for RN degree, ok? That not to say they not capable, but it just mean there not that many, in my opinion, ok? My suggest, you call HR at MMMC, and check it out, also Kaiser, and then come ova and talk to guys at hospital, before you move here, cause if you neva live here before, some things you should be aware of , and can only know by experience, ok?
Peace and aloha to you!
It depends on where you come from. A lot of mainlanders don't get jobs because we expect you to live hear a year or three and move away. There is no sense in hiring and training nurses if you're going to take off. We want to hold on to you for a long time.
Saying that, Maui is also very unfriendly toward mainlanders who move here to stay. I'm still not welcome after living here for many years and I'm a nice person. There's a strong hostility, moreso than Oahu. Instead, try Queens, HMC, or Kuakini Medical Center in Honolulu. You'll stand a better chance.
Maui.... meh. The entire place shuts down after 7:00 every night. You get stuck mixing it up with tourists who get irritating after a while. And there is absolutely NOTHING to do. Trust me, try Oahu or stay home. I hate to be Mr. Negative but that's reality.
Good luck! For all of those who live in Maui, how hard is it to get a job at Maui Memorial Medical Center as an RN?
I dont think it;s that difficult..when my mom was in the hospital..the nurses..alot of them were traveling nurses. Check there job post
